I watched the words fall from her lips
The reminder that there are elements out of my control
Ripping myself from the inside out
Shredding my strength into shards of glass
They poke me
A jab around the head where I no longer feel 'there'
I am myself and yet I see the girl across from me
Facing me through the fogged up window
You're trying she taunts
Her silent form mocking empathy
Just breathe
take a deep breath...
in and out, in and out
And soon she disappears
Fading into the brightness of the skyline ahead
My senses returning to where they belong
